What Is NU Preliminary to Masters Private Programme?
The Preliminary to Masters Private course is a special pathway. It is designed for students who completed a 3-year Bachelor (Pass) degree. After finishing this preliminary stage, students can join the regular Master’s Final year. The course runs for 3 continuous academic years. Private students study from home and sit for university exams.

Who Can Apply? (Eligibility Rules)
Before you start, check if you meet the rules. The NU Preliminary to Masters Private Registration 2026 has clear conditions.
- You must have passed the 3-year Bachelor (Pass) regular or private exam under National University. The passing years must be between 2015 and 2023.
- You need at least 45% marks in the traditional system. Or a minimum CGPA of 2.25 in the grading and credit system.
- In your chosen subject, you need at least 40% marks out of 400. In the credit system, you need a minimum GPA of 2.0 out of 24 credits.
- Students who passed a 4-year Bachelor (Honours) degree cannot apply directly. However, if they passed a Certificate Course with the required marks, they can apply.
- Certificate Course holders (2015–2023) with 45% marks or CGPA 2.25 are also eligible.
- Defence personnel and prisoners can apply with proper permission from the authority.
NU Preliminary to Masters Private Registration 2026 Fees
The total cost is clearly fixed by the university. Pay your college on time to avoid problems.
- Application Fee: 1,000 BDT
- Registration Fee: 1,620 BDT (includes sports, BNCC, and Rover Scout fees)
- Total: 2,620 BDT
Submit the money through the college’s mobile banking system or directly at the college office. The deadline is 01 July 2026.
Approved Subjects for Master’s Preliminary Private
You can choose only one subject. Pick a subject that you studied at the Bachelor level. The approved subjects are:
Bangla, English, History, Islamic History and Culture, Philosophy, Arabic, Islamic Studies, Sanskrit, Pali, Economics, Sociology, Political Science, Accounting, Management, Marketing, and Finance & Banking.
For Bangla or English, you must have studied that subject in your Bachelor (Pass) course with at least 40% marks or GPA 2.0.



How to Apply Online
The whole process is online. Follow these simple steps carefully.
- Visit the official website: www.nu.ac.bd/admissions.
- Click the Masters Tab, then choose Apply Now (Masters Preli. Private).
- Enter your Bachelor (Pass) or Certificate Course roll number, registration number, pass year, and a personal mobile number.
- Select your gender correctly. A wrong gender entry can cancel your form.
- Choose your division, district, and college. The system will show eligible subjects and seats.
- Upload a recent passport-size colour photo. Photo size must be 120×150 pixels, JPG format, under 50 KB.
- Upload your signed undertaking (অঙ্গীকারনামা) confirming you are not enrolled in any other programme.
- Click Submit Application and print the form on A4 paper.
After Submitting the Application
Sign the printed form and attach attested copies of your mark sheet, registration card, and undertaking. Submit everything with the fees to your chosen college. The college will verify your details and confirm your form online. Only confirmed students will get a registration card.
Important: Each college can accept a maximum of 1,000 students per subject. Apply early because seats fill up fast.

Final Tips for a Smooth Registration
Double-check every detail before clicking submit. A wrong photo or wrong information can cancel your registration. Keep a soft copy of your form and payment receipt. If you are already studying in any other programme under any university, you cannot apply. Dual admission will lead to cancellation of both registrations.
